New Media Brew-ha-ha!
This Saturday 5:30 at Red Light Red Light in Winter Park (map) we’re having a casual gathering of local new media mavens. Basically it’s a happy hour or what I like to call a ‘think and drink’ for anyone who likes to play with digital media and the web.
The goal of the meeting is to catch up with friends, both new and old, share a pint and discuss the possibility of hosting a new media / digital media conference this year in O-town.
There are a lot of us creating and digesting digital media content in Central Florida and it would be so cool to bring everyone together for a BarCamp like event that gives us the chance to shoot the digital breeze and see what new and innovative things the community is up to. Mark and Ryan have mentioned that the popular PodCamp conference focuses on the New Media Community so we can discuss whether that format best serves the community.
So if you Digg new media and want to StumbleUpon a tasty new beer come by Red Light this Saturday at 5:30 and join the discussion.
Cheers.
P.S. Ryan just set up an Upcoming Event Info and RSVP page - You don’t have to RSVP but if you want to or need more info check it out.
Hello,
I’m not a member (yet) of Creatives, though I am curious if I may attend the “Think & Drink” Saturday 1/5 event?
If so, is there a fee and how and where do I RSVP?
Thanks.

Stephen,
Of course you can come, no RSVP, no fee required. This is a casual gathering of independent new media folks in town and like many of the Web 2.0, New Media, PodCamp type gatherings we try, whenever possible, to make these collaborative gatherings free and open to the public.
I look forward to talking with you about Orlando’s new media future. As a WMFE member I have always appreciated the attention the station has given to Orlando’s growth. I thought last year’s How Shall We Grow series was really well done. As the digital media industry continues its exponential growth downtown and around the University, it will be interesting to see how it effects the local economy as well as Orlando’s reputation beyond Central Florida.
See you at the Think and Drink!
Cheers
Thanks for your prompt and cordial response!
I’ll be there and may bring a guest who’s in the media, too.
