If you happen to be around the Central Florida area at the end of September and have even the slightest interest in blogging and internet communication, then stop by Rollins College for the second annual BlogOrlando un-conference. It’s FREE!
Did you catch that word “un-conference”? For those of you unfamiliar with the un-conference format, the goal of these events is to take the amazing conversations, networking opportunities and ‘know how’ sharing that take place in the hallways between sessions at a normal conference and make that moment of connection and inspiration the actual focus of the un-conference sessions.
For instance the Video Blogging session I’m leading at 2:10 will NOT consist of a 30 slide PowerPoint presentation with me pontificating on video blogging best practices while you sit idly by going into a post lunch food-coma.
The Vlogosphere is too dynamic a place to be so underhandedly treated. My goal in this session will be to draw you into the digital dialog and encourage you to go beyond a mere interest in video blogging to becoming a camera wielding Vlogger yourself.
I want to show you the pulsing bleeding edge of video blogging technology. I’ll share the amazing creators, storytellers, innovators, tools, tips and tricks that are shaping the Vlogosphere and encourage and empower you to carve out your own niche in this exciting medium.
But, but, but ……..this is a conversation. If there aren’t other passionate vloggers in the session sharing their own insights and experiences I’ll be sorely disappointed. I don’t want to rest on my reels as they say. There are plenty of amazing developments in video blogging that haven’t crossed my radar, but they’ve crossed yours. So come prepared to participate in the conversation, to learn, be inspired and to get equipped to capture and share the world as you see it in a whole new way.
If there are specific areas that you want to see discussed feel free to comment below or drop me an e-mail. Remember this session will be what we make of it so join in the exchange now.
See you at BlogOrlando.
Here is my Vlog post from last years event. See what other sessions are on the schedule .

Great talking to you after your session at BlogOrlando. Thanks for the notes on the groups and local communities. Will be adding to Twitter and looking to forward to following your Vlog!!
John,
Great presentation today. I thoroughly enjoyed your passion for video blogging. Your session has made me want to learn everything about video blogging. I look forward to keeping tabs on your video blog and will send you a link to my video blog site when I create it within the next week. It’ll be my first foray into video blogging so it may be a little rough around the edges. Anyway, great listening to you today. Take care.
Sincerely,
Joe B
John,
Loved your session, what video camera did you say you thought was the cadillac of cameras?
Teri
Teri,
For everyday video blogging needs I’d suggest any of Sanyo’s Xacti line of hand-held cameras. Go with whatever price point you can afford. Either the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000 or Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1 or if you want to go a bit more traditional I’d suggest Sony Handycam HDR-SR7.
Hope that helps. Drop me a line if you have more specific questions. Glad you enjoyed the session.
